History of STIP Jakarta

1953

Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Pelayaran is a maritime education under the auspices of the Republic of Indonesia Transportation Education and Training Agency. Established since 1953, the Academy of Maritime Sciences organizes a Diploma III Program (equivalent to BSc) with 2 majors, including: Nautical and Technical (Class III competency certificate), length of education 3-4 years.

On February 27, 1957, AIP was inaugurated by the First President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ir. Soekarno. At that time, it also became the First Maritime Academy in Indonesia. In 1962, AIP established cooperation with the American Sailing Academy, Kings Point, for special classes. Since its establishment, AIP has had a good reputation as a Sailing Education Center so that from 1974 to 1984 AIP successfully organized student exchanges with Tanzania, Malaysia and Bangladesh.

STIP began implementing ISO 37001: 2016 based on Certificate Number 003/MHI-SMAP which was obtained on October 9, 2020 concerning the Anti-Bribery Management System. In line with STIP's success in achieving the Corruption-Free Area (WBK) predicate on December 21, 2020, STIP continuously strives to be more proactive in preventing and eradicating corruption. In addition, fostering commitment and a culture of honesty, transparency, openness and compliance.
